The Oulu Market Hall is the jewel in the crown

One of Oulu's most culturally and historically significant buildings is the Oulu Market Hall, which has been serving its customers since 1901. The building was designed by architects Karl Lindhal and Valter Thomén in the neo-Gothic style, and a major restoration completed in 2020 has returned it to its former glory.

Some of the traders have been in the market for decades. You'll find beautiful and personalised handicrafts, clothes and other wonderful gift shop products for gifts and souvenirs. You can also buy quality local food and organic ingredients for everyday and special occasions. It's not a bad idea to stop by in the early morning for breakfast or lunch and a hot salmon soup!
